Still

If you could be still, wait a moment more.

Just be with me. And wake up in my arms

one last time. In those doors, you disappear.

I wait for you in a fog.

It will be okay. You promise.

But I won’t cry.

My eyes wander down the road while the toes

point west. Hearing familiar songs of past lives.

Seeing other versions of ourselves.

Always thinking of you. Wondering how

we got here. The hall with too many lights.

 Sighing passes as conversation.

As dawn grows near, and I quiet my

mind. The silence speaks our future, I

let go. Resolved this is the end.

What will we become? Strangers

in a solitary room with only a

broken mirror intact.  I will not

give in to despair. Please let this

be repaired.

We came in together

And I leave alone
